Paihia, North Coast

We ventured North this weekend.
We wanted to be prepared for family that will be visiting in December.
Our first stop was at Parry Reserve in Warkworth.
The Kauri Trees are HUGE!
We stopped at a nearby waterfall. We hiked about 15 minutes and found the "little" fall.
The hike was beautiful.

We made it to Paihia and stayed right across from the pier.
We had a beautiful sunset at dinner.
On Saturday we took the 1/2 day tour to Hole In the Rock and Otehei Bay.
We went pass a beautiful, picturesque photo opportunity of small islands peaking through a little bay.
We had a Dolphin Experience on this tour!
The Bay of Islands encompasses 144 islands.
We saw some beautiful places and islands.

We were able to visit Hole in the Rock.

We were unable to go through the Hole in the Rock
due to rough seas.

We stopped at an island and had a BBQ lunch of steak, chicken, salads, and roll.

We took a hike and had a 360 degree view.

We got off the ferry at Russell (across the bay from Paihia).
This house caught our attention. We loved the veranda's.
We took a self guided walking tour of Russell.

We visited the Historic Christ Church. With the Cemetery in around it.
It also had a wedding earlier in the day.

We saw some beautiful woodwork in a shop ~ No we didn't buy anything :)

This is a Waka ~ a Maori Canoe

There are so many beautiful flowers here.

We went to the Haruru Falls (meaning big noise)
We watched some Kayakers try to go under the falls.

Yes, even a rooster at the park at the falls.
Reminded us of Tonga!

We went to the Bay of Island Ward for Church.
It was the Primary Program. It was so wonderful!
It made me miss my Primary Class!
