On the Road Again ...

We left on March 14th for Fiji for training
In the air from Nadi Fiji to Suva Fiji - a 25 minute flight
We stayed at a beautiful site - the Novotel Hotel - on Lami Bay
Picture at Hotel that we liked
Our training with Fiji High and Fiji Primary Schools
Bryce with Elder & Sister Mendenhall
 Jonathan instructing                                 Bryce instructing

 Beautiful Trees

A vendor was selling his plants under these trees
A unique flower on campus
The sun was beginning to set as we went into dinner
Where we ate dinner with Mendenhall's and Blackburn's
 Great dinner with Wonderful People!
We went downtown Suva to see it - it was busy!
 Funny story for language barriers.
We ate dinner one evening at the hotel.
I asked for a Banana Split and a Coke
The waitress took the ticket to the kitchen window (which we could see well)
Everyone started laughing and looking at us.
We didn't figure it out until the bill came:
"1 Banana Split - *like it cold"
Ha ha ...
We took a river trip with Elder Blackburn, Elder & Sister Parrington from Pocatello, Idaho.
They are the mission couple in Fiji
This was one of the villages markets
We saw this uniques piece of furniture in a local store
These are the boats we took up the river to the waterfall
At one point we had to get out and walk while the boat went through the rapids
We wore all the right gear

The boat stopped at this local village to drop off food
Kids and parents were swimming in the "dirty" water
Where we stopped to hike to the waterfall
Bryce wanted to take a picture looking back
He thought the area looked stable
It was like quick sand. He sunk to his knees
All cleaned up!
 Climbing up to the waterfall

Our group in the water
Dredging was taking place in the river
It was laundry day for some (in the muddy river)
The had us float down the river on a bamboo raft.
We arrived to the village  where we ate and were entertained

 Lunch in the Emu
Polynesian ritual of preparing and sharing KAVA ~ it looks like mud
We politely abstained and respected
The village gathering place is ornately decorated with beautiful tapa

I think we were part of their entertainment
In our case "white men don't dance well"
They took us to their small preschool for the children to sing to us
The views outside of the Meetinghouse
It was a fun day!
