January's Busy Days

We had Family Home Evening on January 15th.
The Buckner's were in charge - We had Hawaiian Haystacks
They had Sister Pamela Reid speak to us about "Writing our Stories"
It was really good!
These are the decorations:
We had the privilege of training a new ITEP Couple on January 18th & 19th
The Murdoch's are from Ashton, Idaho
They will be serving in Tonga with the Middle Schools
They are both educators and will be of great benefit and help to the schools!

We recently had 3 new couples arrive to the Area Office.
The Murdock's - Additional Legal Counsel
The Meikles - Medical - Mental Health
The Wright's - In Field Rep
The Wright's son lives in our Lehi 46th ward - John Wright
Our newest team member, Kari Vidal arrived for a visit to the schools.
She is from Lehi and will be working out of Salt Lake.
We were able to have dinner with her, The Henshaw's, and
The Calder's (Susan Henshaw's brother and sister in-law who were visiting.)
We had a couple of heavy rain days. I actually ruined a 2nd pair of sandals!
It was a Holiday on Monday, January 29th, Auckland Day.
We decided to go to Hamilton to attend the temple and spent a couple of nights.
What is a 90 minute drive turned into a 3 hour drive.
It was the last holiday weekend before school started.
Traffic was heavy! Along with construction
We made it to the 6:30 PM session instead of the 4:00.
We were caught in a lightening & thunder storm with heavy rain as we left the temple.
Saturday morning we went to the Hamilton Zoo just as it opened
It was warm, but shady
The animals were active and eating their breakfast
We were very close to the animals and the zoo was not crowded!

                                                            Spider Monkey's
The Red Panda
A Lemur
The Monkey's were inside while the keepers put their food out.
We waited about 5 minutes and they let them out to eat.
It was so fascinating watching them go to the sweet, red sauce
We liked watching the mother with her baby

And yes, they had pigs! They look totally different than the pigs in Tonga!
The Sumatran Tigers

The Giraffe's and Zebra's

Baby Rhino with its mother                              Rhino up close to the fence
Saturday afternoon we went to the Memorial Park. It was really nice.

There is a children's park inside the park
There was also a small Aviary.
The birds had some of the most amazing colors!

We stayed in a hotel across the bridge from the park
We ate dinner at a fun, new place called, "Iguana"
The portions were huge we had 3 meals with my Chicken pasta!
It was a great weekend at the temple and our Cultural Experiences!
We went to church with the McKay Ward.
They had a lot of visitors from New Caledonia!
An interesting lesson learned! Saved for another time :)
